Alterations The Seams Easy Way contains tried and true alteration methods on common ready to wear clothing. By utilizing these steps, you will be able to alter clothing items for yourself or others to fit their particular size, shape, and length. Have you seen professional people with ill fitting clothing? Being professional includes looking the part. Clothing needs to NOT be “too tight”, “too baggy”, “too long”, or “too short”. I’ve included information for “Setting up a shop”, my favorite tools, tips for pressing, how to do a fitting, tricks to removing machine stitching, and more. There are over 100 color pictures included in the book. I opened my alteration shop in 1994.

After a year of being open, I hired a helper. That’s when I realized I should write down some methods on alterations. Specifically, the recommended amount of fabric to ideally to leave in hems, seams, etc. This is to leave enough fabric for a potential future alteration, but not too much to show/laying in a way this is not smooth. So, the fine tuning began on measuring and steps in each method. Thick fabrics would change the formula sometimes, so exceptions to the rule were included. Cheat sheets were started. Through the years, notes were added. Methods for more alterations were written down. Fine tuning was done. This was the basis for my book.
